Lessons in Grace - Live Overwhelmed

Understand the drive to live godly lives.

What two ways can people be saved?
Grace & Works
What is the truth?
Grace
What two ways can people live their lives?
Grace & Works
What is the difference between the two?
Students answer…
What is the truth?
Grace

You are loved and accepted by God through the merit of Jesus (What does merit mean?), and you are blessed by God through the merit of Jesus (What does merit mean?). Nothing you ever do will cause Him to love you any more or any less. He loves you strictly by His grace given to you through Jesus.

Does this make you a little nervous?
Well, if you take all the pressure off and tell me all of my effort will never earn me one blessing, (Do you really believe that?), then I’m afraid I’ll slack off and stop doing the things I need to do to live a disciplined Christian life. (There are things that we NEED to do to live a DISCIPLINED Christian life.)

The grace of God can be misunderstood and sometimes even abused. How?
Students answer…

Jude 4.
Romans 6:1
Galatians 6:13
Read Romans 5:20.
“But where sin increased, grace increased all the more.”
What did he mean by that?

Paul wrote chapter 6 to answer that question.
Read Romans chapter 6.

Romans 5:2 says “We have gained access by faith into this grace by which we now stand.”
We are not only justified by grace through faith, we stand every day in this grace.
Do people misunderstand justification by grace? How?
Do people misunderstand sanctification by grace? How?
The solution to this problem is not to add legalism to grace, but to be gripped by the magnificence and generosity of God’s grace that we respond out of gratitude rather than a sense of duty.
LIVE OVERWHELMED.
